Hello

Hello

My current area of practice is Emergency Nursing. I have been working in the emergency room as a Registered Nurse for over 1.5 years and have thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I am passionate about Emergency Nursing and also teach first aid and CPR during my days off. It is incredibly rewarding to assist patients during critical times, and I appreciate collaborating with the interprofessional team to provide care for seriously ill patients. Although it can be stressful, as a relatively new graduate, I am enthusiastic about implementing ideas to enhance psychological safety, which may improve confidence and patient outcomes.

My Story

My time as a research assistant in our team was incredibly valuable and meaningful. It not only revealed how enjoyable and fascinating nursing research can be, but it also completely transformed my career path and aspirations for my degree. I had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful people and forming lasting friendships. The numerous opportunities for learning and growth significantly prepared me for my master's program and enhanced my knowledge of statistical methods such as T-tests and ANOVAs. Overall, I am extremely grateful to have been part of this team and highly recommend it to any students interested in postgraduate studies or research.

I am currently pursuing my master's in nursing at McMaster University, with a research focus on virtual reality and simulation in nursing. My goal is to enhance psychological safety and implement new programs and improvements in nursing practice. Additionally, I aim to contribute to the development of virtual reality software to better prepare both students and registered nurses for code scenarios as part of their formal training.

In the future, I aspire to achieve a PhD and teach nursing students, helping them reach their goals and promoting psychological safety in the field. I strongly encourage everyone to explore research opportunities. Don't hesitate to ask how you can get involved. My journey began when I mustered the courage to ask Dr. Odreman after class about research opportunities and shared my goals for after becoming an RN. This opened many doors for me.

Even if you think research might not be for you, it significantly enhances your resume or curriculum vitae. Embrace new experiences and learning opportunities; nursing is a diverse field, and I recommend exploring as much as possible while you are still a student.
